This is the first article in the series Release Your Fear of Finance.
Do one thing every day that scares you.
If you’re familiar with this advice, you may think of Eleanor Roosevelt. It’s been widely attributed to her over the years. Considering the renowned spunk of this remarkable First Lady, it does sound like something she would say. Interestingly enough, this version of the phrase was coined in 1997 by Mary Schmich, a columnist for the Chicago Tribune. (Check out the source sleuthing I found here.)
Mary’s challenge holds space in my mind as I work with clients every day. These business leaders are enterprising visionaries—leading teams, scaling their businesses, solving customer problems, and more. Their minds and talents thrive in that space. Which is good news for the rest of us! We benefit from their contributions both personally and collectively.
Here’s the thing: whatever we do best is often the thing that we’re wired to do. So we’re drawn to it and love to be in that space. But that can leave little time or energy for the other equally necessary endeavors outside that sweet spot. Financial management and strategy is one of the most common areas of neglect by CEOs of fast-growing companies. And what is neglected often becomes rather scary.
The fear of finance is real among successful business leaders.
That’s why I believe so strongly in what Officeheads provides. Our financial management services allow our clients to do more of what they do best, because that’s what we do best.
Financial strategy is our sweet spot! Because it doesn’t scare us, we lend our courage to clients and help them face down their fear of finance. In time, they release that fear in full as they learn best practices and see the dynamic power that can be harnessed to grow their business.
We see this transformation with our clients unfold, and there’s nothing better. This new blog series will cover how we help business leaders embrace financial management to grow their business and reach their goals. If you are ready to face your fear of finance, reach out today. We have courage to share!
